In our first year as a 509a2 Public Charity Metta, Inc. has begun to make great strides in bringing Mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning, or SEL to children with special needs, their teachers and parents. We could not fulfill our mission without the support of private donors and philanthropic organizations who make it their mission to support worthy charities. We would like to say a special thanks to two of our most generous benefactors the Kahn educational foundation and the Pape family foundation.
Metta is pleased to announce that recently in partnership with Present Moment Labs a leader in mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning education we have entered into an agreement with the Grand Prairie Independent School District to provide virtual mindfulness and SEL training to 39 special education teachers and teacher’s aides.
Metta has also provided scholarships to three special education teachers from the J.L. Long Middle School and John W. Carpenter Elementary to participate in an online course for educators in Mindfulness and SEL. The course is being taught by Meena Srinivasa who is a leader in bringing mindfulness and SEL to schools around the country.
We promise to keep you informed as we continue to make progress with your help and encouragement in bringing mindfulness and Social Emotional Learning to children with special needs, their teachers and parents.
With gratitude and kindness ,
Kathleen Allen
Chairman and President of Metta Inc.
